  • Customizable inputs: Replace variables in specific cells to tailor each prompt to your exact needs

  • A/B testing capabilities: Easily compare different prompt variations side by side

  • Prompt chaining: Build sophisticated prompt sequences within the same Excel file

📌 Before You Start: Important Notes

Before diving in, there are a few important considerations to keep in mind:

Resource Usage: Your computer's resources will be used when running Promptitude in Excel's native application. This means:

  • Processing may take longer than in the web application

  • Be patient during formula execution and prompt refreshes

  • Avoid multiple clicks which can trigger numerous requests simultaneously

Token Consumption: Every formula execution consumes tokens from your Promptitude account.

  • Inserting, pasting, dragging, or refreshing formulas triggers new generations

  • Consider creating a dedicated API key specifically for Excel usage to track consumption

  • Use "Paste values only" for results you want to keep without re-running formulas

Formula Handling: To prevent unwanted executions.

  • Add an apostrophe (') before formulas you want to save but not execute

  • Copy important formulas to a safe location with a space or quote before the equals sign

  • Set cell format to "General" for proper formula execution

🔸 What You'll Need

  • Excel's desktop application installed on your computer (the online version is not supported)

  • Your Promptitude API Key

  • The Promptitude Excel Template (downloadable from the platform)

Since this template runs on your computer's resources, processing might take longer than web-based operations. Please be patient during execution.

Enable macros if prompted (this is necessary for the template to function properly)

👌🏻 Best Practices

  • Save your work frequently to prevent losing configurations

  • Create a separate worksheet for each distinct use case

  • Document your setup with notes and instructions for future reference

  • Monitor your API usage through your Promptitude dashboard

  • For complex workflows, consider creating a template with your most-used prompts already configured

Remember that while the template works exclusively with the native Excel application on your computer (not the online version), it offers all the core functionality you've come to expect from Promptitude—now integrated seamlessly with your favorite spreadsheet tool.
