If you're not familiar with input variables and their function, we recommend reviewing them before proceeding. ;-) Input Variable "Website" Type allows you to extract information from a specified URL, which can then be analyzed and used in your advertising strategies.

What is the Website Type Input Variable?

The Website Type input variable is designed to help you scrape data from a URL. This means you can pull relevant information from a website to provide context for your prompts.

  • Flexibility: You can use two sub-variables:

    • The pure URL of the website.

    • The extracted text from the website, which is the default option if not specified.

πŸ“Œ Basic Fields: Required Information

When setting up the input, there are several basic fields you must fill out:

  • Label: This is the name you give to the field for easy identification.

  • Type: This will always be set to "Website" for this variable.

  • Name: This is the ID in double brackets that places the variable within your indicator.

  • Default Value: This is the value that will replace the variable in your indicator for testing purposes.

  • Content Limit: Set a maximum number of words for the input.

πŸ“Œ Advanced Fields: Optional Enhancements

In addition to the basic fields, you can also visually customize your input variable when used in the form:

  • Help Text: Provide additional guidance for users filling out the field.

  • Placeholder: This is a hint within the field to guide users on what to enter.

  • Display: Choose whether this field is mandatory or optional.

πŸ‘ŒπŸ» Tips for Using the Variable

To ensure you get the best results when using the input, keep these tips in mind:

  • Public Accessibility: Make sure the URL you provide is publicly accessible. It should not require passwords or have any limitations for scraping.

  • SSL Certificate: The URL must have an SSL certificate, which is indicated by β€œhttps://”. This ensures safe scraping.

  • Cache and Cookies: Some websites may have settings that prevent proper scraping. Use the Preview Prompt functionality to check if the information has been extracted correctly.

  • Formatting: When displaying the extracted information, separate it into its own section using three quotes at the beginning and end, like this: β€œβ€β€{{input_name}}”””.
