In this article, we'll guide you through the process of finding your Amazon Bedrock Access Key. This key is essential for verifying your identity and permissions when interacting with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
We'll explain how to navigate the AWS Management Console, access your security credentials, and manage your access keys.
Accessing Your Security Credentials
1️⃣ Sign into your AWS console as an IAM (Identity and Access Management) user.
2️⃣ Navigate to your username in the upper right section of the navigation bar.
3️⃣ From the dropdown menu, select My Security Credentials. This will take you to the My Security Credentials page, which includes all your security credentials.
Managing Your Access Keys
On the My Security Credentials page, look for the Access keys for programmatic access section.
If you have created an access key previously but forgot to save the secret key, AWS recommends deleting the existing access key and creating a new one.
To create a new key, select the Create access key button. This generates a new secret access key. Remember, this is the only time you can view or download the secret access key. AWS does not allow retrieval of a secret access key after its initial creation.
Next, select the Download .csv file button and save this file in a secure location only accessible to you. This file contains your new access key.
Note: If you already have the maximum of two access keys—active or inactive—you must delete one before creating a new key.
If you believe someone has access to your access and secret keys, delete them immediately and create new ones.
Deleting Your Access Keys
To delete your existing key, select Delete next to your access key ID.
A confirmation window will appear, showing you the last time your key was used. This information is critical to helping you understand if an existing system is using the access key and if deleting the key will break something.
If you're sure you want to delete the key, confirm the action.
Remember, managing your access keys responsibly is crucial for maintaining the security of your AWS resources. Always follow best practices, such as enabling multifactor authentication (MFA) and regularly updating your keys.
